X3 Transmitter
X3 Basic Setup
Please notice that the X3 has a pretty different user interface because of its touch screen.
Start by turning the transmitter on. Press and hold the Power button on the side of the X3 until you see the Godox logo on the screen.
Set the Channel and ID
Follow the next steps to set the channel on the X3 transmitter:

Swipe down on the screen.

Tap on the Setting button.

Tap on the Wireless button.

Swipe up or down on the CH area to select a channel.

Swipe up or down on the ID area to select an ID.

Swipe right twice to confirm your selection, and return to the main screen.
Please remember: the ID number should be the same you set in the flash. If you decided not to use ID or some flashes on your setup don’t have the ID function, set it to Off.
As you can see in the image, I set mine to channel 9 and ID is 18.
Select and Configure Groups
The transmitter is ready to send orders to the flash groups. Now, we need to decide the orders we want to send and to which group.
Add and Remove Groups
The main screen should display the groups that are currently active. If you want to add or remove groups, follow the next steps:

Tap on the button with the three bars and a ± symbol. It should take you to a list of groups.

Tap on the groups you want to activate or deactivate. Active groups are bright with a white marker, inactive groups are grayed out.

Swipe right once to return to the main screen.
You should now see an updated list of groups to work with.
Select a Group

You can select a group by tapping on it on the screen.

When you tap on a group you’ll see a screen with the group details.
Set Group Mode
The group details screen shows you a lot of information. It displays the power setting on the first row. The second row shows the group letter on the left margin, then the group mode, and a Pause button. The last row has the modeling lamp information.

Tapping on the Mode button will switch between TTL and Manual modes. You’ll see that the power setting information changes as you alternate between TTL and Manual modes.

To the right of the Mode button is the Pause button. If you tap on the Pause button the transmitter will stop sending signals to that group, but it will save the latest settings for the group.
What’s the difference between Deactivating a group and Pausing it? Deactivating a group means you won’t use it at all. Pausing it means you are going to use it, but you’re probably setting things up and you are testing the effect of each group separately.
Set Group Power
When you have a group selected, you can adjust its power setting in any of three ways:

If the selected group is in Manual mode, you should see the power changing between 1/1 (full power) and 1/128 (8 stops down). Every click of the wheel or tap on the screen changes power by 0.3 stops.

If the selected group is in TTL mode, you should see the Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC) changing between -3 (under-exposed three stops) and +3 (over-exposed three stops). Every click of the wheel or tap on the screen changes power by 0.3 stops.
I set group B to Manual mode and 1/16 power, as you can see in the image.
When you’re finished setting the power, swipe right once to return to the main screen.
Set Group Zoom
Adjusting the flash zoom remotely requires you to use a Custom Function. Follow the next steps to set it, starting on the main screen:

Swipe down on the screen.

Tap on the Setting button.

Slide up until you find the Zoom button.

Tap on the Zoom button.

Swipe up or down to select a Zoom value. You can also press and rotate the wheel to select a Zoom value.

Swipe right twice to confirm your selection, and return to the main screen.
Please notice: This changes the zoom setting on all groups, not only the one you had selected.
You will probably hear the flash zooming in or out when selecting values on step 5. I set mine to 35mm.
Testing
Let’s test! If you press the Tester button (button on the right side, labeled with a lightning bolt icon), you should see the remote flash firing.
